The book that turned me onto magical realism was written by Hannah Hunard.
She wrote a book many years ago called Hinds Feet For High Places.

I have to add to my post about Hannah as I relate to her life and find her fascinating.
She was born in 1905 to a Quaker family in England. Later she became a missionary in Palestine and while she was younger wrote her novel series including Hinds Feet On The High Places as well as the sequel or sequels.
In later years she became a pantheistic or gnostic much like I have become. Her last book was written to signify her departure from the traditional Christianity. The name of the book is Eagles’ Wings To The High Places and this supports Gnosticism.

Admittedly, I haven’t read it (or think I haven’t) but must do it soon. My own writing is fashioned after her allegorical descriptions. She was a master at writing stories within stories.
Love you forever Hannah Hurnard!
From 1905-1990
